Commonly Asked Questions
What if my manuscript is more than 70,000 words?
Any additional word is charged at €0.01 per word. For example, 80,000 words = €750.
Will you tell me what to change, or do I still have control over my story?
You always remain in control of your manuscript. My feedback is there to guide and support you, not to rewrite your story for you.
How long does a developmental edit usually take?
Turnaround time depends on manuscript length and my current availability, but I’ll always confirm a clear timeline before we begin.
What do I need to send you before we begin?
I’ll usually need your manuscript, word count, genre and a little information about your goals and any areas you’re especially concerned about.
What is your overall process?
In a nutshell: website enquiry is received → I review manuscript details → send quote based on package selected → client accepts → contract/invoice → 50% deposit provided → editing begins
What exactly does a developmental edit include?
A developmental edit looks at the big-picture elements of your manuscript, including plot, structure, pacing, character development, conflict, stakes and emotional impact. Developmental editing focuses on the story itself, while line editing focuses on sentence-level writing and proofreading catches final grammar, spelling and punctuation errors.
What genres do you work with?
I specialize in romance, historical romance and character-driven fiction, but I’m happy to consider other genres if the project feels like a good fit.
What happens after I receive my edit? Can I ask follow-up questions?
Yes. Depending on your package, you’ll have the opportunity to ask clarification questions or discuss your revision plan after delivery.
How does payment work?
Once we’ve confirmed that your manuscript and chosen service are a good fit, I’ll send you a contract and invoice. A 50% deposit secures your editing slot, with the remaining balance due before delivery. Payment can be made by bank transfer or secure online card payment with Stripe. PayPal is also available on request.
